It's been two years since Brother Ali released the critically acclaimed album The Undisputed Truth, and as the Rhymesayers lyrical heavyweight and producer Ant put the finishing touches on their upcoming follow up (Fall '09) the dynamic duo cap off the last two years with a new EP and a full-length DVD.

André Kostelanetz was an orchestral music guru known for arranging and recording light classical music pieces for mass audiences, as well as orchestral versions of songs and Broadway show tunes. Recently, ScholarMan took one record by the late-great Russian composer and created this FREE mixtape. “A Meeting With Andre Kostelanetz” features guest appearances by some of my favorite underground emcees, including K-Mynez, Kats, Domer and Random.

There's no debate about it: Audible Mainframe has taken its place as one of hip hop's most profound outfits. There are other groups that posture rap tactics over live musicianship, but Audible is the only one perched on the ridge where rhyme and rock climax.

At the recent Mass Industry Committee Awards - Boston's first hip-hop award show - the seven man crew pocketed first prize for Best Live Group, while Audible's front man Exposition snatched the trophy for Best Underground Artist. They add these awards to the ever growing list of accolades coming their way including winning 107.3 WAAF's 2003 Beantown Meltdown, taking the trophy and prize money away from 35 of Boston's best rock bands and becoming the first hip-hop group ever to take the title.

This second release, an 8-track EP showcases more of a live feel, and a harder edge. Featuring two live tracks, in addition to 6 fresh studio cuts, War To Be One picks up where Framework left off, taking Audible's sound to the next level.

HerFavoriteColo(u)r is an EP from the darling of the underground hip-hop scene, Blu. It’s entirely self-produced, relying predominantly on jazz samples. But don’t think you’re getting a fully developed Blu album; HerFav is only 30 minutes long and half of it is instrumentals. It’s unpolished, but not in a bad way. It plays almost like a jam session. Blu not only continues to show off his personal and flavorful rhyme style, but also shows he’s really no joke on the beats either. He really comes into his own on here - crafting conceptual collages from quotes, chops & loops of some of my favorite movies, as well as greats like Jimi Hendrix, Curtis Mayfield, Etta James, Radiohead and others.

Othello and Manwell first met in 2001 as tour support for John Reuben. They instantly formed a connection that over time would produce a dynamic two man operation now known as the Othello & Manwell Show.
