It's been a year since DJ Statik Selektah made sure the world "spelled his name right" and now he's back with his sophomore album, appropriately entitled Stick 2 The Script. As always, Statik steers away from the over-fabricated, ring-tone production that is popular today and backed by a who's who of street-credible, time-tested emcees, comes correct. Mixtapes and mixshow radio programs from NYC to LA are already playing the lead single, "To The Top," which features Cassidy, Saigon and Termanology. Rik Cordero hopped on board to direct the Reservoir Dog-inspired music video which has already received over 100,000 views. Cordero himself has been featured in Hip Hop Connection, Rolling Stone, Vibe, XXL, ect. and has directed videos for major commercial artists including Jay-Z, Nas, and Snoop Dogg. Other stand out tracks include "For the City" which is a New Jack City-inspired song featuring M.O.P. and Jadakiss and finds Statik utilizing a cappella tracks of soulful chanting to create this New York City classic.

Stick 2 The Script encapsulates Statik's East Coast boom-bap production and brings this sound to the South on "Get Out The Way" which features Bun B and UGK-alumnus Cory Mo and to the West Coast on the lowrider anthem "Cali Nights" with appearances by Glasses Malone, Mistah Fab, and Novel. "All 2gether Now" is a powerful reunion of State Property's Freeway, Peedi Crakk, and Young Chris and Consequence gets it on solo with the Kanye West co-signed "Mr. Popularity" which is currently making the rounds online and on mixtapes.

With King Magazine hailing it as "soul sampling boom bap of the highest caliber," the album will undoubtedly be hailed as as a savior of true Hip Hop. With Statik's signature sound, DJ Premier-inspired scratch hooks, and support from big name guests, fans will gladly be "sticking to the scipt."

This album if pure fire, he's probably one of the only producers right now along with Illmind who are making waves in both the underground and mainstream scene. The beats on this album are sometimes amazing, peep the first track with Black Milk, bangin or what!!! But I have to say that even thought he has that balance between mainstream and underground, he definitely saves his best beats for the underground artists. Nearly all of those artists come correct over some tight Jake production but the same can't be said when he's dropping a beat for say Young Buck or Keak Da Sneak, don't even get me started on these doo doo MC's. Basically if you hear it all the way through and skip past the tracks that feature Keak Da Sneak, Young Buck, Busta Rhymes, Bishop Lamont and D. Black then you got yourself a classic. As it stands, it's a clear indication of Jake One's undeniable talent and his knack for calling on the underground and mainstreams biggest hitters and that ain't too much of a bad thing, you gotta respect the man's hustle and I'm sure he's gettin' well paid, just ask Illmind.

Sixth all-new solo album from legendary producer Pete Rock and boy is it a doozy! Bringing it back to a sound from yesterday with his signature soul sampling techniques and enlisting the help of Wu's Raekwon and Masta Killa, veterans the Lords of the Underground, Royal Flush, Redman and newer groups making waves these days like Little Brother. Domingo is a producer from east NY that has crafted bangers for your favorite east coast emcees but gets no shine for whatever reason. On this release, the aptly titled The Most Underrated, Domingo provides vintage east coast boom bap for legends, vets, and necomers alike to get busy on. The results do vary, but the production end is solid. Names like Big Daddy Kane, Ras Kass, Canibus, Kool G. Rap,The Beatnuts, Tonedeff, Slug, Immortal Technique, Non Phixion, and Brother Ali show up to bless the tracks lovely. The end result is forty six minutes of dope hip hop music that's full of the grimy, boom bap sound reminiscent of '95.

This was a quiet one when it dropped last year, why? I got no idea because this album is bangin'!!! From the old skool mc's to the new skool, you got a bit of everything on here and you can't really go wrong when you got East Coast vet Domingo lacing the tracks with some good ol' fashioned throwback sounds. This was one of the most slept on albums by one of the most underrated producers in the game so do yourself a favor, download, enjoy and bump that shit loud! One more little thing, the last 2 tracks for me are my absolute favourites. Tonedeff is a legend and does a great narration over a latin tinged beat for Easy Now and the same can be said for the underground powerhouses of Rhymesayers labelmates Slug & Brother Ali and also QN5's punchline king PackFM, who absolutely murder the last track Fuck You Mean.

The New Jersey native known as DJ K.O. (Keenan Ormsby) has teamed up with Shaman Work Recordings to release the best hip-hop compilation to come out in years.

Picture This... matches a seemingly endless roster of hip-hop's hottest MC's with an equally impressive group of producers. The result is a tribute to hip-hop's past, present, and future.

Veterans like Diamond D, OC, Masta Ace, and Edo G bring back the past, while lyricists like Talib Kweli, Elzhi (Slum Village), Phonte (Little Brother) and Royce da 5'9" represent today's hottest performers, and newbies like Skyzoo, Kaze, Supastition, Silent Knight and Tiffany Paige set the bar for what's to come. Featuring tracks produced by Black Milk, Buckwild Analogic, 9th Wonder and M-Phazes (to name a few) the album definitely has something for everyone.

The man behind this masterpiece is DJ K.O., who kept one thing on his mind when creating the line up: "I approached this as a hip-hop a fan, he says. "I thought about my own ideal collaborations and took it from there."

K.O. used his connections from the college radio show he hosted at Rutgers, along with spinning and promoting parties in NYC to get the ball rolling. In 2004, he formed Elementality Productions. It wasn't long until K.O. shared his vision with John Robinson, (member of What's The Science? and President of Shaman Work Recordings). Three years later, the finished product exceeds even K.O.'s expectations.

"Most of the songs are good, old-fashioned hip-hop," he explains. "There's a raw, angry gutter sound mixed with more smooth, soulful tracks."

With Picture This... hitting stores in September, KO's eyes are already set on the future. "I'm a lot more focused on the behind-the-scenes stuff than dee-jaying", he says. "The aspects of A&R, management, and executive producing are most appealing to me."

He also hopes to continue to provide a platform for new performers to be heard on a large scale.

"Nowadays, it's so hard to break an artist", he says. "I knew there were so many dope artists who just needed a chance to be heard."

One of the best compilations released this decade!!! You can't help but jump out your seat when you peep the guests and producers... probably one of the best lineups ever. You got the current crop of some of the undergrounds biggest stars and some of the best up coming artists, From Elzhi to Silent Knight and from Ayatollah to Analogic... mix in some Black Milk, M-Phazes, Buckwild, 9th Wonder, Talib Kweli, Royce Da 5'9"... the list is endless, I probably only mentioned about half! It's so refreshing to hear all this on one solid album and solid it is, from lyrics to beats, it will defnitely have you nodding in appreciating to how well this project came together. A special thanks has to go to DJ K.O., producer/A&R of Elementality Records and definitely has a bright future with his label if this is anything to go by. The only tiny little thing that got to me was that it only has 12 tracks and with all the talent on the album you can't help but wish there was more. If this was maybe stretched to 16-17 tracks, this would've been an unstoppable album, an instant classic, it still might just become that in a couple of years. For now, enjoy what is a superb release and solidifies the fact the real hip hop is here to stay!

Boot Camp Clik is an American hip hop supergroup from Brooklyn, New York. The group consists of Buckshot (of Black Moon), Smif-N-Wessun, also known as Cocoa Brovaz (Tek and Steele), Heltah Skeltah (Rock and Ruck, aka Sean Price) and O.G.C. (Originoo Gunn Clappaz) (Starang Wondah, Top Dog, and Louieville Sluggah).

Though commercial success has largely eluded them, the Camp has gained a large following in the underground rap community. Principally known for their hardcore content, in their later years the group also began adding personal and socially conscious aspects to their lyrics, and were among the first rap acts to infuse elements of Reggae into their music. Buckshot, along with Black Moon, also helped establish the backpacker scene in underground hip hop.

The Camp reached the height of their popularity in the mid-90s, with the release of four acclaimed albums, Black Moon's Enta Da Stage, Smif-N-Wessun's Dah Shinin', Heltah Skeltah's Nocturnal, and O.G.C.'s Da Storm. These albums spawned a number of underground rap hits, most notably Black Moon's "Who Got Da Props?" and "I Got Cha Opin (Remix)", Smif-N-Wessun's "Bucktown", "Sound Bwoy Bureill", and "Wrekonize", Heltah Skeltah's "Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka", "Letha Brainz Blo" and "Operation Lock Down", and O.G.C.'s "No Fear", "Hurricane Starang", and "Danjer". Despite the acclaim of the albums and the minor success of the singles, no Boot Camp affiliated release was able to reach Gold sales status. Following the lukewarm reception for the Camp's first group album For the People, the crew's popularity began declining, eventually leading to a lengthy hiatus from the rap game. Since returning independently in 2002, the Camp has been able to regain their past popularity in underground hip hop with a number of acclaimed underground releases.

Since their inception, the Boot Camp has spawned a number of affiliates. The group's earliest affiliate is the production-crew Da Beatminerz, lead by Black Moon's DJ Evil Dee and his older brother Mr. Walt. Da Beatminerz originally produced the majority of the Camp's work, but since 1997, they have taken a backseat to a number of outside producers. Other affiliates include rappers the Representativz (consisting of Supreme and Lidu Rock, the younger brother of Heltah Skeltah's Rock), Illa Noyz (the younger brother of Heltah Skeltah's Sean Price), M.S., LS, BJ Swan, The BTJ's (Bucktown Juveniles), Rustee Juxx, Doc Holiday, Thunderfoot and Lil' Hardcore, Reggae-vocalists Jahdan and Twanie Ranks and R&B-vocalist group F.L.O.W. Though Black Moon is closely connected to the group, members 5ft and DJ Evil Dee are not official members of the Boot Camp Clik.

For The People is the debut album from Hip Hop collective Boot Camp Clik, consisting of Buckshot from Black Moon, Cocoa Brovaz, formerly known as Smif-N-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah and O.G.C. The crew officially organized in 1995, with all eight members appearing on the song "Cession At Da Doghillee" from Smif-N-Wessun's Dah Shinin'. The album features a different sound then that heard on previous Camp related releases, with the crew abandoning their past production crew Da Beatminerz, instead recording with live instrumentation. The sound put off many fans, and the album received mediocre reviews and went on to sell just over 300,000 copies in the United States.

Thought I'd throw up that little bio as it was very interesting and informative, anyway, my thoughts on the debut BCC album:Very diffrent to their previous solo albums, no Beatminerz and completely different sound, strings, live instruments etc... This album was very hit and miss with a lot of BCC fans, understandedly so, half had high expectations to to previous efforts, only to feel let down by the sudden change in sound and the other half who understood where the BCC where coming from with their change of direction and welcomed it with open arms. I guess over time, I fell into both categories, yeah when I first heard it a couple times, it stayed on the shelf for a good while, but after hearing their most recent dope releases, I went back, flung it back in the stereo and spazzed out... I just thought FUCK IT, it's the BCC and noboby comes close to them in terms of longevity, consistency (a couple minor steps tho) and overall hip hop superiority. They've been releasing quality material since 1992 and continue to do so till this very day. Final thoughts on this album... not a patch on there debut solo releases but still a quality release in it's own right. So I think this is definiely a slept on album, not a classic but because people were quick to dismiss this on it's first release, it should be copped and given another go, it just might grow you, second go round.

Representativz are a Hip Hop duo, consisting of Supreme and Lidu Rock. The duo gained fame through their affiliation with the Boot Camp Clik, with Lidu Rock being the little brother of Heltah Skeltah's Rock. The duo debuted in 1996 on Heltah Skeltah's acclaimed Nocturnal album, on the track "The Square [Triple R]". Later in 1996, they dropped in on O.G.C.'s Da Storm album, appearing on the song "Elite Fleet". They dropped their first group track on Boot Camp Clik's 1997 album For the People, with the song "Watch Your Step". The duo appeared on multiple tracks on Heltah Skeltah's 1998 album Magnum Force, and followed up in 1999 with an appearance on O.G.C.'s The M-Pire Shrikez Back. Later in 1999, they dropped their debut album Angels of Death on Warlock Records, featuring appearances from multiple Boot Camp Clik members. The duo has yet to release another album, but remains on the Duck Down Records roster.

Very underrated album, Supreme and Lidu Rock spit lyrical fire all over this album. Supreme handles most of the production on the album. You got BCC vets like Heltah Skeltah, Smif-N-Wessun & Steele of O.G.C. lending a hand on a handful of tracks. People passed this up when it first dropped, me included but one listen, you'll see why that was a mistake, besides probably 2-3 weakish tracks, the rest of the album is a bangin' through and through. Another sleeper album from the late 90's. If you're a BCC fan, don't pass this one up, a welcome addition for any fan of BCC or that raw, grimy sound synonymous with the east coast thoughout the 90's!

With his debut on Little Brother's album, The Listening, selling over 30,000 units independently, Big Pooh serves a solid fan base 14 blazing tracks on his debut solo release Sleepers.
