Aarophat is the first of a crop of up and coming artists to make himself known. Youngstown, Ohio’s premier lyricist has been writing and rhyming for as long as he can remember. He patterns himself after no one, but with a healthy respect for Hip-Hop greatness and quality emceeing reminiscent of legendary wordsmiths such as Big Daddy Kane and Rakim, Aaro’ has set out to blaze new trails and leave his mark on the game. While those around him were drawn into quick money schemes and the streets, Aarophat felt the pull of the pad, pen and the studio. Everything else became secondary. Resisting the traps of small town life, he has successfully cultivated a broad fan base in his hometown and across the world. Utilizing the internet as a tool, he has been featured on countless websites such as UGHH.com, HIPHOPSITE.com, and MP3.com. On the strength of his talent alone, he has reached as high as number 2 on the MP3.com charts and has been featured in publications such as Blaze Magazine, Rap Mag and Rap US magazine in France. Aaro’s evenly balanced, passive-aggressive lyricism allows him to feel equally at home rhyming over mid-tempo beats as he is riding a high powered track. He has proven himself to be a universally adept performer, able to appeal to audiences without sacrificing his underground credibility, or his creative process. Aarophat delivers the total package. He is equally convincing rhyming about topics such as Black on Black crime, suicide or male-female relationships, as he is with any other situation he encounters. His unique voice shines brighter than the bass and beat allowing listeners to feel what he has to offer. There are no gimmicks here, no elaborate production schemes hiding a lack of lyrical skill and no bubblegum illusions to be found. Aarophat has a style and presence that cannot be measured. He stands alone on the horizon of Hip-Hop, more than prepared to move mountains.

Scanz is an artist in every sense, taking control behind the boards with the same skill and precision he displays on the mic; carefully crafting each track, from chopping records, sequencing drums, playing keys, writing lyrics, all the way to recording and mixing. Scanz is also a beast on the stage, getting crowds hype alone or backed by a full band. He has shared the stage with KRS-One, Channel Live, Copywrite, DJ Premier, and many others.

As an emcee, Scanz is genuine, honest, and intelligent, balanced with a raw, refreshing style. Scanz was chosen as one of the Rawkus 50, a collective of artists that Rawkus has signed and dubbed the future of hip hop. The Jacksonville, Florida based trio is a collision of talents from two different projects -- Therapy, of the AB's (formerly known as Asamov) and Daisey & Batsauce, of Heavenly Noise -- each having their own appeal to the underground urban music scene. They come together to create a unified sound with a positive and personable vocal experience over beats with a "lo-fi essence of the real." A true-school sound, that will undoubtedly take you back to your roots and leave you smiling into the future.

The Smile Rays are proud to announce their debut domestic LP "Smilin' On You", released on Rawkus/6hole Records. In 2007, the Smile Rays released a full length "Party Place" and an EP exclusively in Japan, as well as a 12" single in Germany.

The Smile Rays have many projects and ventures for 2008 and beyond. As well as promoting and touring in support of their release, Smilin' on You, the individual members of the Smile Rays are recording new solo and group material. Stay tuned...

Mr. Met, a native New York City born musician raised in Park Slope Brooklyn, was introduced to the culture of hip hop in the mid 80’s. Being half French and half Jewish Met came up battling on street corner ciphers and local Mc competitions with a mission to prove himself as an mc.

After internal conflict with his first group “SUB 4”, met decided to accept the invite from the other local Park Slope group making noise “Zooty Zoo”, and joined forces with Building Block (Block McCloud) and Will Tell. The 3 artists formed the group Word A Mouth and went on to be featured on the Lyricist Lounge Volume 1 album hosted by De La Soul. This Album was released in the golden era of hip hop and opened up an audience to Mr. Met so detrimental to his success today. Soon the legendary Pumpkinhead, another Park Slope native MC came into the picture and the chemistry between the artists was like none other. They formed the Brooklyn Academy and went on to release a number of independently released records that topped college radio, billboard and dance charts.

Mr Met released his first and only independently produced album “Metropolis” in 2005.

Emerging from the New Jersey underground Urban performance circuit comes Silent Knight, a recording artist who brings a new glimmer of hope to Hip-Hop culture. Rawkus records and Hip Hop Hell Records are proud to present “Communication”, the debut solo release from MC, producer, and A.b’s member, Willie Evans Jr. With this solo album, Willie brings forth the funk and hiphop of the Southeast. As the region is oft equated with finger snaps and crunk beats, Willie establishes himself as a force in hiphop not to be taken lightly as he begins to brand his signature sound. With a slightly minimalist approach,Willie Evans Jr. reminds you that before you have a message, an image, a network or a staff, you got-ta be funky. Willie presents himself in this release. Simply stated, the Floridian producer/MC gives an accurate portrayal of what makes him tick as he spits his observations of the world around him. Handling 99% of the production (Slow Adrenaline was produced by Therapy of The Smile Rays) he also establishes himself as a beatmaker who’s main concern is snapping your neck. Mr. Lif, Basic (of The A.b’s), and J One Da (The A.b’s) lend their vocals to Willie’s debut product as icing on the cake. Communication is a new representation of what it means to be a southeast hiphop artist.

Custom Made are on a mission to bring back L.A. hip-hop. And while Truth Be Told might set them up to do just that, it does so with a heavy East coast influence. First track, “Where It Goes Down”, is full of angry energy, each MC spitting their rhyme like its their last over heavy drums and lilting piano lines. It’s a song that would sound more at home on 36 Chambers than Straight Outta Compton. “Gutta Rap” slows things down, letting the rap group get more confessional without losing any of their venom. What makes Custom Made’s music distinctly West coast it its tales of life in L.A. And while the picture they paint isn’t a new one—drugs, gangs, violence—it is delivered with a healthy dose of both worry and love for the place Custom Made calls home.
