His first release gained him critical praise from trade publications and fans alike. Discussions on his MC skill began to light up on internet message boards all over the world. A one month European tour was warranted to support his project and meet his new found popularity overseas. Upon his return, Vakill was determined to work on next release with the same strict guidelines as his first.

The Misanthropist is a hip hop producer from Stockholm, Sweden. Stocklyn Retrospective is his debut album featuring artists such as Royce da 5'9, Masta Ace, Termanology, Trife da God, Tame One, Pumpkinhead, Mr Metaphor and many more.

In only a few years, producer/emcee Black Milk has quickly developed into one of the few hip hop artists who both carries an accomplished resume and is followed with widely-held optimism about what he can bring as one of the leaders of the modern hip hop movement.

Now 25 years old, Black (born Curtis Cross) earned his stripes both locally in his native Detroit and on a national level from his associations with Slum Village. After getting his first production credit for "What is This" on SV's sophomore album "Trinity" in 2002, he produced much of the popular group's next two albums both individually and as part of the production team BR Gunna, with whom he also released the album "Dirty District, Vol. 2." It wasn't until his self-released debut solo album "Sound of the City" in 2005 did he begin to achieve some notoriety as an emcee, and it was off the strength of the album that he signed his first record deal with Fat Beats Records in 2006.

Upon the release of his "Popular Demand" album in March 2007, Black Milk instantly became one of underground hip hop ambassadors. In addition to becoming a go-to producer for commissioned beats on an independent level (he's placed beats on projects by Kidz in the Hall, Guilty Simpson, Strange Fruit Project, Genius/GZA, and many more), he's also worked with major label artists like Pharoahe Monch, Kardinal Offishall, and Busta Rhymes. He's also since released two albums on his own Music House imprint (Fat Ray's "The Set Up" and "Black Milk presents Caltroit"), produced nearly an entire album for Elzhi from Slum Village ("The Preface"), and produces and rhymes as a member of the group Random Axe (with Sean Price and Guilty Simpson) who have a full length album dropping in first quarter 2009.

His new album "Tronic" shows that Black has grown tremendously as a producer, as he's adopted more live instrumentation and is introducing more complex arrangement than his previous sample-heavy work. He also shows marked improvement as an emcee, and carries most of the album himself with only 3 guest verses on the entire album (from emcee royalty Pharoahe Monch, Royce Da 5'9", and Sean Price). Not even two years removed from his breakthrough release, Black Milk proves on "Tronic" that not only is he growing as an artist, but hip hop music as a genre still has room to grow.

While it's his first full-length album on Syntax Records, this is far from an introduction. Through years of pounding the pavement as a full-time emcee and his national appearances on the Night Owls series, he has already built a strong fan base that is more than ready for Excuse Me.

"In all honesty, it felt refreshing to go in the studio, because I knew it was finally my time," Kaboose says. "Once Executive Producer Tim Trudeau and I got rolling, everything just fell into place. I feel like I was able to get out what was inside of me and am very pleased with the outcome."

That outcome is a brave journey as told only through the eyes of this hip-hop soldier. Every aspect of this album was met with excellence including the artwork inside.

"The creative direction for Excuse Me goes far beyond that of previous releases in both consistency and depth," says Syntax Records Creative Director Ian Polanco. "From the very beginning of this project, it was decided that the artwork would play an integral part in everything including the marketing. In an age of digital downloads, there needs to be an incentive for you to buy the hard copy. We're going to offer you that incentive."

Kaboose comes into his own on Excuse Me and brings a very special guest along with him, hip-hop veteran Royce da 5'9". The rapper, who's worked with Eminem and toured with Mobb Deep, collaborates on the song "Goin Outta Control", which is also the first single.

"It was phenomenal working with Royce. We were able to really chop it up about the track and also about life in general," Kaboose says. "I have much love and respect for this legend."

A thin guest list of three is completed by the addition of labelmates RedCloud and MaxOne. With stellar production by sirROCDOMZ, Shane Newville and Tommy Percival, Excuse Me is a refined and focused release that is destined to stick out in an over-saturated music culture.

This album if pure fire, he's probably one of the only producers right now along with Illmind who are making waves in both the underground and mainstream scene. The beats on this album are sometimes amazing, peep the first track with Black Milk, bangin or what!!! But I have to say that even thought he has that balance between mainstream and underground, he definitely saves his best beats for the underground artists. Nearly all of those artists come correct over some tight Jake production but the same can't be said when he's dropping a beat for say Young Buck or Keak Da Sneak, don't even get me started on these doo doo MC's. Basically if you hear it all the way through and skip past the tracks that feature Keak Da Sneak, Young Buck, Busta Rhymes, Bishop Lamont and D. Black then you got yourself a classic. As it stands, it's a clear indication of Jake One's undeniable talent and his knack for calling on the underground and mainstreams biggest hitters and that ain't too much of a bad thing, you gotta respect the man's hustle and I'm sure he's gettin' well paid, just ask Illmind.

The New Jersey native known as DJ K.O. (Keenan Ormsby) has teamed up with Shaman Work Recordings to release the best hip-hop compilation to come out in years.

Picture This... matches a seemingly endless roster of hip-hop's hottest MC's with an equally impressive group of producers. The result is a tribute to hip-hop's past, present, and future.

Veterans like Diamond D, OC, Masta Ace, and Edo G bring back the past, while lyricists like Talib Kweli, Elzhi (Slum Village), Phonte (Little Brother) and Royce da 5'9" represent today's hottest performers, and newbies like Skyzoo, Kaze, Supastition, Silent Knight and Tiffany Paige set the bar for what's to come. Featuring tracks produced by Black Milk, Buckwild Analogic, 9th Wonder and M-Phazes (to name a few) the album definitely has something for everyone.

The man behind this masterpiece is DJ K.O., who kept one thing on his mind when creating the line up: "I approached this as a hip-hop a fan, he says. "I thought about my own ideal collaborations and took it from there."

K.O. used his connections from the college radio show he hosted at Rutgers, along with spinning and promoting parties in NYC to get the ball rolling. In 2004, he formed Elementality Productions. It wasn't long until K.O. shared his vision with John Robinson, (member of What's The Science? and President of Shaman Work Recordings). Three years later, the finished product exceeds even K.O.'s expectations.

"Most of the songs are good, old-fashioned hip-hop," he explains. "There's a raw, angry gutter sound mixed with more smooth, soulful tracks."

With Picture This... hitting stores in September, KO's eyes are already set on the future. "I'm a lot more focused on the behind-the-scenes stuff than dee-jaying", he says. "The aspects of A&R, management, and executive producing are most appealing to me."

He also hopes to continue to provide a platform for new performers to be heard on a large scale.

"Nowadays, it's so hard to break an artist", he says. "I knew there were so many dope artists who just needed a chance to be heard."

One of the best compilations released this decade!!! You can't help but jump out your seat when you peep the guests and producers... probably one of the best lineups ever. You got the current crop of some of the undergrounds biggest stars and some of the best up coming artists, From Elzhi to Silent Knight and from Ayatollah to Analogic... mix in some Black Milk, M-Phazes, Buckwild, 9th Wonder, Talib Kweli, Royce Da 5'9"... the list is endless, I probably only mentioned about half! It's so refreshing to hear all this on one solid album and solid it is, from lyrics to beats, it will defnitely have you nodding in appreciating to how well this project came together. A special thanks has to go to DJ K.O., producer/A&R of Elementality Records and definitely has a bright future with his label if this is anything to go by. The only tiny little thing that got to me was that it only has 12 tracks and with all the talent on the album you can't help but wish there was more. If this was maybe stretched to 16-17 tracks, this would've been an unstoppable album, an instant classic, it still might just become that in a couple of years. For now, enjoy what is a superb release and solidifies the fact the real hip hop is here to stay!
