C-Rayz Walz is back and wondering, "Who The F%@k Are You?" The blunt title is fitting for an MC who brings it hard start to finish. But don't let the hard image fool you, C-Rayz brings dedication, creativity and originality to his craft to stand out in a Hip Hop world filled with cookie cutter beats and rhymes. This veteran mic gripper mixes conceptual imagery and street credibility across 16 brand new cuts including "The Family Crest", a special dedication track to one of Hip Hop's greatest acts ever, Gang Starr. Guests include Slug from Atmosphere and one of the QB's most respected residents Lakey The Kid. Who is crazy enough to call their record "Who The F%@k Are You?"... C-Rayz of course.

Nature first came to the world’s attention in the mid-90s doing intros for DJ Clue’s mixtapes, solo and alongside early mentor/rival Nas, and his notoriety peaked with his collaborations with Nas, AZ & Foxy Brown as The Firm, although ongoing collaborations and associations with Tragedy Khadafi, Mobb Deep, Cormega, Capone & Noreaga have kept his fanbase aware of his presense in the game. This new album, evidence that Nature has not been growing stale since his last release, is a showcase of today’s up-and-coming beatmakers, anchored by more seasoned producers Dub Sonata and Scram Jones. Nature’s confidence is evident by his sparing use of guests that compliment his style; N.O.R.E., Prodigy, Doo Wop and Kool G Rap. “Pain Killer” is a lethal injection to the stale state of Hip Hop in 2008, a seamless sequence of deft lyrical deliveries over innovative beats.

Dom Pachino has also been featured on The Swarm Compilation (Gold), Rza as Bobby Digital (Gold), and Wu-Tang Forever(Platinum). As the first major Latin rapper ever to emerge from Staten Island, Dom P has always stayed busy; whether touring internationally, or appearing in TV or movies, he has released a slew of independent mixtapes, DVDs and albums through his Napalm Recordings Empire that have helped him to galvanize his own following. People do not associate Vermont very closely with hip hop music. PRO (originally from Monreal, Quebec) Learic (originally from Washington DC), and DJ Big Kat will to change that. After 10 years of solo efforts, these 3 joined forces in 2005 and formed, The Aztext.

The Aztext have completed their highly anticipated debut album, “Haven't You Heard?” in 2006, whose single 'Who's Wit Us?' hit number 2 on national college radio charts giving The Aztext a major boost on the Underground Hip Hop scene. “Haven’t You Heard?” was Hip Hop Album of the Year in the Free Press Publication and earned a spot as top 10 album (in all genres) in the Seven Days publication. The album features legendary hip hop acts such as, Krumbsnatcha of the Gangstarr Foundation, Q-Unique of the Rock Steady Crew and formerly of The Arsonists, Wordsworth of the Lyricist Lounge Show, Double A.B. and The Loyalists.

Listen to track 12, "Find My Dough"

After grinding as a battle rapper for years, New York emcee Double A.B. is putting less emphasis on scathing punchlines and drawing more from personal material. Diesel is a cohesive and vivid Gotham City auditory memoir where just the appearance of certain guest rappers — Cormega, Nature, Vast Aire, among others — invoke grit and restlessness.

The production on Diesel is solid, and you won’t find any club joints on the 16-track collective. But one of Double A.B.’s strong points is his unswervingly clever wordplay—something that’s refreshing in a world of short attention spans and ringtone-ready tracks that fall short in lyrical content. The record traverses the usual hip-hop narrative—girls, poverty, drugs—but draws upon witty metaphors and inventive rhyming (echinacea, what?) to deliver an underground view of Double A.B.’s NYC.

A highpoint is the C-Rayz Walz guested track “New York,” where the emcees get adjectival about New York over a minimal, tense beat, “New York grimy/New York gully/New York Shiesty/New York Hungry.” Other standouts include Double AB talking up his whip, “Maxine,” as if she were a woman, and the twanging, down-home ditty to fam, “Neighbors.”

What Double A.B. does on Diesel is create a throwback record that reminds you of how high the bar was once set for emcee. His rhyme pattern, flow and cadence come off as effortless but not thoughtless. Maybe all rappers should prep for full-lengths with battles.

Listen to track 4, "The Sermon" feat. Nature

Balancing the gangsters from the backpackers can be difficult, but Dub Sonata’s debut album On the Arm manages to erase the line between mainstream and underground hip-hop. Dub Sonata’s joints sound like he’s been schooled by both DJ Premier and Three 6—soul samples on one track, stomping drums and alarms on the next. Sonata sits in the producers role, but unlike the recent Timberland solo super-producer disaster, he relies on his strengths—and the vocal cadences of the slew of guest rappers, including Double A.B., J-Hood and Bizzy Bone—to create a beautiful pastiche of New York hip-hop both old and new.
