Dope ass mixtape from two mighty rappers who get together to show the lethal chemistry between the two. Although it's a mixtape, you get a few original tracks here along with a couple new joints from their upcoming album. I've been bumpin this all week and I'll tell you what, it's better than some albums that have been coming out recently... yep, it's that good!

Chief Kamachi has been doing his thing for some time now and since 1998 has been featured on more than 16 singles, but with still no full-length to his credit. Since the day when the Mic Messiah gained acclaim for contributions to The Army of the Pharaohs’ single to the present, he’s accumulated quite an underground following thus there is no more perfect name for his debut album than Cult Status. Kamach pairs up with Mr. Eon (”What You Doin”), Gang Starr’s Guru (on the single “The Best”) and JuJu Mob affiliates Charon Don, Reef the Lost Cauze, and State Store. The album boasts hardcore street bangers that would out-grime and bounce past some of the dirtiest joints. It’s no wonder being that the sonic bumps are via State Property’s S.Dot, Mighty Mi (High and Mighty), E Dan (Strict Flow) and DJ Kwestion. Cult Status is definitely a fine package of Philly’s paramount artists.

The Pittsburgh, PA duo of Charon Don and DJ Huggy aka Hands Down, match one of Hip Hop's most up-and-coming MCs with one of Hip Hop's most up-and-coming producers. Best known for his role in Chief Kamachi's Juju Mob, Charon Don has been featured on a number of projects in the past few years, while DJ Huggy has been staying busy doing production for the likes of Black Rob, Baby of Cash Money, Sean Price, Camp Lo, MC Eight and many others. "Art Of Life" features a star studded guest list which includes Lil Scrappy (of Lil' Jon's BME Recordings and G-Unit fame), Rah Digga (Flipmode Squad), Killah Priest, Reef The Lost Cauze, Wiz Khalifa, Chief Kamachi and more. "Art of Life" is a solid Hip Hop album that will not disappoint.

Reef The Lost Cauze is a Philly mic slayer on a mission. While some emcees are strictly studio and others are mostly battle emcees, Reef is a pure hybrid. He is a proven battle champion who shines even greater in the studio and on stage performing. Reef teamed up with accomplished Philly producer/ DJ Stress the White Boy to make his newest release, The Stress Files. The Stress Files is a 23 track recording documenting Reef's amazing abilities. This record features 12 studio tracks recorded and produced by Stress, as well as 11 live tracks recorded during a live performance in which Reef & Stress tore down Southpaw in Brooklyn, NYC. This record truly showcases Reef's studio and songwriting skills and the intense energy of his live performances.

Dubbed "Pennsylvania's Hip-Hop Supergroup," Reef The Lost Cauze, Charon Don, State Store and founder Chief Kamachi, join forces for their highly anticipated collective debut Black Candles. While all four emcees were featured last year on Kamachi's solo debut Cult Status, this Army of the Pharoahs' member is not the only rapper in the group to have already made a name for himself. Reef the Lost Cauze gained recognition as one of the nation's top battling emcees when he won the "04 Rocksteady Battle," while Charon Don is a four-time winner of the Battle of the Beats on Pittsburgh's #1 urban radio station, 106.7 WAMO. For this month I wanted to put the spotlight on some CFB fam, Reef The Lost Cauze. When I set out to do this mix, I was reviewing a whole gigabytes worth of mp3’s of this motherfucker. REEF HAS BEEN RAPPING A LOT. I mean a lot since like 3rd grade. But really it seems like his modern rap career started with “The High Life”. What was that, 01? Something like that.

Anyways, I was moving back to Philly from PSU and making lots of beats around that time and we collabbed on his next album “Invisible Empire” (as did Emil/Emynd). Since then he’s been dropping solo albums, crew albums, solo mixtapes, producer collab albums- all types of shit. To do this mix I ended up cutting out any rapper collabs, I just wanted to focus on Reef. Reef is a MOTHERFUCKING VERSATILE ARTIST!!! I put his battle raps, his more personal tracks, his what’s going on type tracks… all that shit, and yeah, it wasn’t easy to cut joints out to make it roughly 70 minutes. I hope y’all feel the tracklisting, and more importantly I hope Reef doesn’t think I left anything off, or cut verses off he wanted on there. Doing these is definitely different and tougher when it’s your bol’s shit.

Enough talking… I’m rambling. Make it clear though… This guy is a fucking monster. If you hate on this dude because who he rolls with or who he is associated with, fuck what you heard. This dude is nasty on all types of tracks.

With two solo records and a Jedi Mind Tricks' affiliated compilation of rare cuts and B-Sides under their belts (cumulative scans of 22,500+ units), Outerspace, the Philadelphia based duo of Planetary and Crypt The Warchild (and core members of the 40,000+ scanning Army of the Pharaohs supergroup), offer their third solo album: God's Fury. The tag team has been bubbling in the hardcore/underground scene ever since being taken under the wing of indie-powerhouse Jedi Mind Tricks. Now, with an entrenched profile in the indie hip-hop scene as well as the fully branded cosign of retail powerhouse Jedi Mind Tricks, Outerspace is poised to take the market by storm with the third installment in their already impressive solo discography. With features from Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mind Tricks), Armaggedon (Terror Squad), Psycho Realm and fellow Army of the Pharaohs members King Syze, Doap Nixon, King Magnetic & Des Devious, God's Fury is another storied entry into the Jedi Mind Tricks/Army of the Pharaohs' affiliated group's catalog.

16. Our Father [3:27]

FILI-
This album is dope, not as good as their first effort but probably as good if not better than their last album Blood Brothers. They decide to keep it close to home this time around by getting the majority of the AOTP camp on here. The beats didn't really jump out at me like they did on their last two albums but lyrically, they get better and better, especially Planetary, who is one of my favorite MC's from AOTP. I'd definitely day this is better than the Doap Nixon and King Syze albums, now it's left to JMT to see what kind of album they release for me to decide which is the best release from the AOTP camp this year. As it stands, this is the best one so far.

Longtime Wu-Tang affilate Killah Priest along with Army of The Pharaohs core member Chief Kamachi have teamed up to release a full length collabo album entitled "Beautiful Minds" on Good Hands Records. Both rappers are considered two of the top poetry writing MC's in the game, and by joining forces Priest and Kamachi plan to deliver an album that fans of lyricism will love. "Kamachi and I are alike in a lot of ways, and this album is going to turn a lot of heads," says Priest. Kamachi responds with "Working with Priest was like going to the studio with myself. It was second nature working with him. It all just came so naturally." The album features only one track with guest appearances, a rarity these days. West coast mainstays Planet Asia and DJ Rhettmatic lend a hand on the track "Illest". Production on "Beautiful Minds" is handled by Tekneek (Kurupt, Tha Dogg Pound), E. Dan (Reef The Lost Cauze, Kamachi, Wiz Khalifa), C Sik (Dilated Peoples, Strong Arm Steady), Dev Rocka, Diamond Legit, Emonex and more. After Killah Priest's recent success with albums "The Offering" and "Behind the Stained Glass" combined with the success of the latest Army of The Pharaohs album called "Ritual Of Battle" from 2007, which scanned well over 20k, this release is destined to be on every top ten independant Hip Hop list for 2008.

Army of the Pharaohs (AOTP) was initially conceived by lead emcee Vinnie Paz of the independent powerhouse group Jedi Mind Tricks. His vision was a constantly-evolving, collaboration of epic proportions that would include MC's, producers and DJ's. AOTP's first incarnation included Bahamadia, Jedi Mind Tricks, Chief Kamachi, 7L & Esoteric and Virtuoso and resulted in the wildly successful 12" single, "Five Perfect Exertions." The response was beyond all expectations and fans worldwide have clamored for more material ever since. 2006 saw the long awaited debut The Torture Papers, which has scanned 20,000+ units to date. The supergroup's sophomore offering, Ritual of Battle, reunites the winning formula, once again featuring the legendary lineup of underground emcees/artists including Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks, Outerspace, Apathy, 7L & Esoteric, Celph Titled, Chief Kamachi, King Syze, Faez One as well as first time AOTP constituent (and renowned former Jedi Mind Tricks member) Jus Allah & many more. Of particular note (and to rabid core fan delight) is the inclusion of the first collaborative effort of original material between Jedi Mind Tricks' founding members Vinnie Paz & Jus Allah since 2000's Violent By Design. Ritual of Battle is released to heightened anticipation, shortly after Jedi Mind Tricks' return from a coveted slot on the entirety of the wildly popular Rock The Bells summer tour 2007.

The Torture Papers is the debut album from Hip Hop collective Army of the Pharaohs, released March 21, 2006 on Babygrande Records. The crew was established in 1998 by Jedi Mind Tricks rapper Vinnie Paz, and originally featured Paz, Chief Kamachi, Esoteric, Virtuoso and Bahamadia. Virutoso and Bahamadia later split from the group, which now conists of Paz, Chief Kamachi, 7L & Esoteric, Apathy, Crypt the Warchild & Planetary of Outerspace, King Syze, Reef the Lost Cauze, Faez One, Des Devious and Celph Titled. An Army of the Pharaohs collaboration album was rumored to be in the works for years, but was often delayed due to separate projects and internal problems. The constant delays lead to The Torture Papers being one of the most anticipated underground Hip Hop albums of the new millennium.

13. King Among Kings feat. Chief Kamachi, Vinnie Paz, Esoteric, Celph Titled (Prod. by 7L)

FILI-
A straight up classic for me, I love AOTP and this album should be in every real hip hop heads collection. The main standout MC's for me on this album were Reef The Lost Cauze, Apathy, Celph Titled, Chief Kamachi & Planetary. All have their part to play though in making this album a true nod to that gutter underground boom bap sound with murder-death-kill lyrics, it don't get much harder than this. Make sure you cop this if you ain't already... Long Live The Army!!!

Nico the Beast, co-founder of Beat Garden Entertainment and one-half of Clean Guns, in a nutshell. After a near-death experience at the age of five years old, and some run-ins with the law at thirteen, Nico grabbed the pen and pad at 14 years old and never looked back.

After becoming a father in 2002 and a husband in 2005, Nico's drive to succeed in hip hop has been unmatched. He

put in work as one-half of Clean Guns for the LP "Sometimes There is Trouble," the mixtape "Living in Harmony," and the free EP "Beat Garden Producer Series #1: Clean Guns = World Domination." He shined on 14 of 26 tracks on the "Yadibox.com Mixtape." After numerous live shows in Philly, NYC, and L.A., Nico now presents his first solo album "No Beast So Fierce."

The album is a blend of street and substance, emotion and hardcore lyricism, grit and honesty. Fans of Brother Ali's "Shadows on the Sun" and The Game's "Documentary" are in for another classic debut album. From the "Prelude" to the epic posse-cut banger "One of These Days," Nico leaves no questions unanswered about his life, his place in hip hop, and his quest to make great songs.

Featuring production from Alex Wood, Evolve One, Stupid Genius, Noochman, P. Shaw and Zilla Rocca, the album is a cohesive blend of soulful melodies and neck-breaking bangers. The guest apperances contribute to concepts of the songs--there are no gratuitous cameos. Apperances from Triple Nickels, Toke Jones, MAGr, Slim DSM, 2ew Gunn Ciz, Reef the Lost Cauze, Blessa, Zilla Rocca and Angela Rastelli never overshadow the Beast.

Nico the Beast is a man of his word, and his words aren't to be taken lightly. And "No Beast so Fierce" is the beginning of an inspired career.
