Originally born in a military hospital in South America but raised in Harlem NYC, he is known as a true lyricist, a conceptual artist and a Revolutionary. Immortal Technique has toured the world, being praised in publications like XXL, The Source, The Washington Post, Allhiphop.com, even Playboy and even the URB magazine cover in Nov.2006. Now he has collaborated with world famous DJ Green Lantern (Sirius Satellite, DJ for JayZ) to mix Street Hip Hop with the vivid landscape of global struggle.

Thought I'd do a re-up on this. Even though it's a mixtape/street album, it still stirred up a lot of debate with people automatically comparing it to his last to official albums. It took a while for it to grow on me, the commercial feel to a few tracks and the constant Green Lantern skits didn't help but over time you sort of adjust to the more polished sound because Tech still has that political mindset and always delivers his message with authority. You can never deny the man's skill and you have to appreciate his subject matter coz only a few can deliver it like he can and make you really site up and take notice. There are definitely a few bangers on here and without comparing it to his previous work, this is some dope shit! I mean, no album since 2003!!! Anything Tech drops now will be met with anticipation and excitement. I dig this now and definitely looking forward to his next official album, rumoured to be called The Middle Passage.

In 2001, Immortal Technique released his first album Revolutionary Vol. 1 without the help of a record label or distribution, instead using money he had made from winning various rap battles. In November 2002, he was listed by The Source as the month's featured "Unsigned Hype", which highlights artists that are not signed to a record label. The following year, in September 2003, he received the coveted "Hip Hop Quotable" in The Source for a song entitled "Industrial Revolution" from his second album. Consequently, since he did not have a record deal or distribution at the time, Immortal Technique is the only rapper in history to have a "Hip Hop Quotable" while being unsigned. He finally released his second album Revolutionary Vol. 2 in 2003 under Viper Records/Nature Sounds distribution on CD and double LP. In 2004, Viper Records and, in 2005, Babygrande Records have re-released Immortal Technique's debut, Revolutionary Vol. 1, to make it available to a wider audience.

Domingo is a producer from east NY that has crafted bangers for your favorite east coast emcees but gets no shine for whatever reason. On this release, the aptly titled The Most Underrated, Domingo provides vintage east coast boom bap for legends, vets, and necomers alike to get busy on. The results do vary, but the production end is solid. Names like Big Daddy Kane, Ras Kass, Canibus, Kool G. Rap,The Beatnuts, Tonedeff, Slug, Immortal Technique, Non Phixion, and Brother Ali show up to bless the tracks lovely. The end result is forty six minutes of dope hip hop music that's full of the grimy, boom bap sound reminiscent of '95.

FILI-
This was a quiet one when it dropped last year, why? I got no idea because this album is bangin'!!! From the old skool mc's to the new skool, you got a bit of everything on here and you can't really go wrong when you got East Coast vet Domingo lacing the tracks with some good ol' fashioned throwback sounds. This was one of the most slept on albums by one of the most underrated producers in the game so do yourself a favor, download, enjoy and bump that shit loud! One more little thing, the last 2 tracks for me are my absolute favourites. Tonedeff is a legend and does a great narration over a latin tinged beat for Easy Now and the same can be said for the underground powerhouses of Rhymesayers labelmates Slug & Brother Ali and also QN5's punchline king PackFM, who absolutely murder the last track Fuck You Mean.

Over the years, countless Wu-Tang affiliated producers, emcees and collectives have emulated the blueprint laid by the Shaolin progenitors, however very few have achieved both the critical and commercial success of producer/emcee Bronze Nazareth. Now, with the "Thought For Food" 2 CD collection, Bronze further solidifies his widespread reputation as the frontrunning successor to the "new-Wu."

Serving as the creative bedrock for multiple solo and group releases (including The Wisemen and the supergroup Almighty), Bronze is primarily renowned for his contributions to legendary albums from the RZA, GZA/Genius, Killah Priest, Hell Razah, Ras Kass, the infamous Immortal Technique & many more.

With features from GZA, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, Killah Priest, Hell Razah, Timbo King, Solomon Childs, Planet Asia, The Wisemen and many more, "Thought For Food Vols. 1 & 2" returns the listener to the essence of the Wu-Tang experience: the rough and rugged yet soulfully poignant aesthetic that continues to serve as the hallmark of the Wu-Tang sound/legacy.

With the recent inclusion of Bronze's beats on GZA's "Pro Tools" LP and Immortal Technique's acclaimed "The 3rd World," Bronze's cache and profile have been growing exponentially. "Thought For Food Vols. 1 & 2" provides an ample taste of what is and what's to come from this underground producer/emcee extraordinaire.

In 2003, Ill Bill declared himself to be the future. The truth is, Ill Bill is the past, the present AND the future. The cult leader is most definitely back. After several years of blood, sweat and no tears, the prophecy has been fulfilled with the breakout album The Hour of Reprisal. Clocking in at exactly 60 minutes and accompanied by a DVD of Ill Bill's wild night at punk rock mecca CBGB, Bill's latest effort is the surgically polished sum of his career…so far. An Ill Bill verse has never been an aimless journey through 16 bars, but rather a threatening configuration of world view, conspiracy theories, street corner politics and the most potent of all, real-life experiences that carry the listener through a perspective that stands unique; challenging anyone with half a brain to relate.

The former Non Phixion standout and one of the organizers behind La Coka Nostra is aggressively pushing the envelope, representing hip-hop in a manner unlike any other. Whether holding it down alongside iconic MCs such as Raekwon the Chef and B-Real, or masterminding stellar collaborations with the likes of the legendary Bad Brains and heavy metal kingpins Killswitch Engage, Bill confidently swaggers the line between genres with fellow visionaries DJ Premier, DJ Muggs, T-Ray, DJ Lethal and others behind the boards. Also, for the first time, a bulk of the production has been propelled by Bill himself. Additionally, in order to bring these sonic textures to life, longtime Wu-Tang Clan mix engineer Carlos Bess brought his state-of-the-art boom, ensuring that the menacing soundscapes would be as sharp as the undeniably crucial lyrics.

Above a tightly wound blend of inspirations, The Hour of Reprisal builds upon Ill Bill's iron reputation for touching on serious issues – social as well as personal. "My Uncle" addresses one of the pillars of Bill's life, his Uncle Howie and his seemingly endless battle with addiction. Playing off of Nas' "The Unauthorized Biography of Rakim" from several years ago, Bill flips the concept to toast his favorite heavy metal outfit, Slayer, so as to pay tribute to his heroes from another voice of struggle – Metal. Topics such as the war in Iraq, the unsettling and disturbing subject of racism, the senseless shootings at Virginia Tech University, the state execution of Stanley "Tookie" Williams and countless others surface, minus any air of exploitation, but with a slash of brutal awareness of challenging times. Bill even manages to deliver a spiritual dedication to his first daughter, with the assistance of seminal punks HR and Darryl Jenifer (Bad Brains).

The self-proclaimed "2011 Melle-Mel" is near the edge. After many years of challenging the hip-hop establishment, backed by a passionate legion of "goons" worldwide, Ill Bill has a fresh pair of kicks laced up and is prepared for war. Now with a family in tow, this abrasive, hard-as-nails MC/Producer steps to the unsuspecting planet with a meticulously-crafted album that will fuck you up…in the best possible way!

17. I'm A Goon (Prod. By Ill Bill & Sicknature)
18. Only Time Will Tell (Feat. Tech N9ne & Everlast) (Prod. By DJ Muggs)

FILI-
I'll be honest, I was a little let down when I first heard this album. Lyrically, you can never fault Ill Bill, dude is a legend on the mic but his choice of beats for most of the tracks left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. The beats by DJ Premier & DJ Muggs are definite bangers, along with a handful of other tracks but some of them just don't do Ill Bill justice. I'm not really a fan of heavy driven guitars and Bill uses them a bit too much. You'll deinitely find something to like about this album but considering this album had us salivating at the mouths for ages anticipating this release, you can't help but feel a little bit like... "Damn, I thought this was gonna be THE album of the year"! Still, like I said, some people will definitely be praising this album... it's kinda growin on me now!

Along with two classic LPs and an EP on Definitive Jux, C-Rayz has released over 25 singles and six full-length albums on his own label, SunCycleEnt.

He is an emcee that has been victimized by the hyper-masculine know-it-all braggadocio attitude of music critics. The topics he discusses, or perhaps the manner in which he discusses them, are so far above the heads of most people that they can’t even begin to understand what he is saying.

The newest release from the poetic mastermind, titled “Chorus Rhyme,” is no different. C-Rayz and Parallel Thought challenge traditional concepts of chorus, even leaving the hook out of some songs altogether. There are no R&B cats singing hooks. No breaks or pauses. Just dope beats and lyrics from start to finish.

In hip-hop, the chorus is often considered a necessary evil. Those who are at the forefront of selling the music stress the role of choruses as those bars that anchor the song in the listener's head. Some even argue that writing choruses is an art in itself, and that many advanced writers fail at coming up with memorable hooks, while less talented ones time and again prove their knack for catchy choruses. Considering its importance for radio and club play, to go without a hook in a rap song is a silent protest against commercial demands.

Orange Moon Over Brooklyn features guest appearances from Immortal Technique, Jean Grae, D.V. Alias Khrist, Supastition, Wordsworth, and others. The album is entirely produced by Marco Polo and features cuts by turntablist DP One.

Brooklyn’s proudest battle MC delivers his best work yet with this release. Pumpkinhead got his big break by doing a promo for the “Stretch and Bobbito Show” (Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito the Barber). His first 12-inch records in 1998, (”Dynamic” and “Wack MC’s”) had great success on the radio charts. Since then, Pumpkinhead has worked with almost every underground MC in New York, recorded a Seagram’s Gin radio commercial, and toured in Australia, Japan, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Orange Moon Over Brooklyn features the banging tracks “Rock On”, “Trifactor” and “Swordfish”. Without a doubt, Pumpkinhead is back representing BK to the fullest!

There has never been an anomaly in hip hop quite like the southern rap trio Cunninlynguists. Sampling genres from psych-rock to blues, New Romantic to polka, they have been musically compared to UGK and Atmosphere in the same breath. They have toured and shared stages with Kanye West and Aesop Rock to equal success. They have produced for Lil' Scrappy as well as KRS One. They have crafted songs with international soul superstar Cee-Lo Green and politically charged indie-favorite Immortal Technique on the same album. Cunninlynguists have eschewed categories, boxes and labels for 6 years, 3 albums, and 2 official mixtapes. The result? If you want labels… Southern Boom Bap. Too white for BET, too black for MTV2. A preacher's son, a Caucasian guy from rural Georgia, and a convicted felon. But mainly, a self-made career, one of the most consistent catalogs of any current hip hop act and one of the most loyal , worldwide fanbases in all of indie-rap music. Backed with gritty beats, quality rhymes, and 808 thump, the 'Lynguists intend on recapturing the soul in Southern hip hop, painting a picture meant to remind the world that politics, death, racism, relationships, religion, and struggle are just as relevant to life below the Mason-Dixon line as anywhere else.

And there you have it, the entire CunninLynguists discography. This particular album won best album of 2007 on undergroudhiphop.com and quite rightly so. One of the best and most dynamic groups in hip hop history, they continue to elevate their sound and simply put, they well ahead of the game. Keep an eye out for a solo album by producer Kno, called "Knomercy"... another classic in the making!

Cunninlynguists first dropped "Will Rap for Food" to little fanfare. Unless you're from Kentucky, Cunninlynguists probably wasn't on your radar at that point. That album, over time, really started to generate a fan base. DJ Kno really came thru with the production and Deacon just has that infatuating southern drawl to his flow. That album was thankfully reissued this year for all those who slept the first time around. Kno and Deacon went on to drop their sophomore album "Southernunderground" on Fresh Chest Records to solid reviews. God, they should have flowed on that "War" beat. Cunninlynguists now comes at you with the all-new studio album "A Piece of Strange" after doing the solo thing with Mr. SOS and dropping a few mix tapes in between. You might have heard "Caved In" with Cee-lo as it was available in honor of Katrina Victims. These guys just keep getting better, with DJ Kno set to drop a full length production album pretty soon they show no signs of slowing down either.

Another standout album from the Lynguists. Very different from their first two as this has a lot more deeper lyrics and is basically a concept album. Do not sleep, nice cover to!!

Originally released in 2006, owing to pent-up demand from a rabid and growing fanbase, Akir's debut album Legacy was re-released to the masses in 2007 courtesy of Babygrande Records. The album was executive produced by buzzing politically charged emcee Immortal Technique and features guest appearances from Jean Grae, Immortal Technique, Abiodun (The Last Poets), Dujeous & more. Production on the album is handled by Southpaw (Immortal Technique), Heatmakers (Juelz Santana), The Fyre Dept (GZA), DJ Static & others.
Akir has already experienced massive press support, having been recently featured in XXL's renowned Chairman's Choice column as well as receiving the honorary (and coveted) unsigned hype accolade from seminal hip-hop publication The Source. A tireless road warrior, Akir has spent the last few years on tour, completing a total of 2 international tours, 7 domestic tours, 200+ shows including Amsterdam, Denmark, London, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and, Venezuela. Babygrande has been making a lot of moves lately as they've recently released the new 7L & Esoteric, a reissue of Violent By Design, and a September drop of Brand Nubian's new album to name a few. In between all of that they're also dropping Outerspace's (Crypt the Warchild and Planetary) first LP Blood & Ashes. Friends from nearly birth, the duo's brotherhood is closely tied in with Jedi Mind Tricks, thus a similar style is manifested. With guest microphone mathematics from Immortal Technique, Vinnie Paz, Esoteric, Celph Titled, King Syze and Sadat X as well as beats from Beyonder, 7L, Celph, Sat One and Panik of Molemen fame. More noise from Philly...

A definite classic in my book, the duo of Planetary & Crypt the Warchild of the famed A.O.T.P. fam drop a banger of a debut. With an ill sound similar to that of JMT but ultimately their own and a slew of talented guest stars who step up to the mic including underground intellectual MC, Immortal Technique, who closes the album on the brooding Angels of Death, old-skool stalwart Brand Nubian's frontman, Sadat X, and of course their main man, Vinnie Paz who transforms Blades of Glory into one of the album's stand-out tracks. These two dope MC's have risen from the shadows of Jedi Mind Tricks and dropped one the best debut's to come out in years!

The crystallized result of one man’s unflappable drive and determination to make shit happen, The Construction’s every word is S.O.U.L. Purpose front runner Mazzi’s life in Chilltown, synthesized from eyes to his brain and straight out his mouth. No subliminals. If you’re the type of cat who needs a co-signer, we got Wordsworth, C-Rayz Walz, Murs, Special K, Big Zoo, Block McCloud, Paze and Redskin all leaning in heavy on this one. Immortal Technique gets my vote for best guest turn on track 18 - “The Other White Meat” (brutal). But really though, it’s tracks like number 5 – “Tonelle Avenue” that let you know this is Maz’s album because this album comes from where Maz comes from. It’s East Coast hardcore shit – hard drums for hard knocks, and soul melodies for one S.O.U.L. purpose.

1. Step Up (Intro)
2. The Product feat. Block McCloud
3. Cut The Rug
4. Way That We Live…
5. Tonelle Ave. (Chilltown Swing)

11. Knucklehead feat. Poison Pen
12. Universal Condition feat. Murs

14. Lemons feat. Red Skin
