After releasing North By Northwest (2005) and Dead Letter Perfect in 2007 (which have earned SoulStice features XXL Magazine, The Source, The Tavis Smiley Show, Urb and many key urban publications and websites), SoulStice returns with Beyond Borders, which SoulStice dubs an “international concept album.”

As SoulStice explains “the project is a collaboration between myself and Belgian beatmaker, SBe, who provides all of the instrumental music for the album. As far as the vocals, the songs are collaborations between myself and many of my favorite artists from around the world. We've got artists from the US, UK, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Africa, and Canada. The first time I ever traveled abroad was a trip I took Russia in 2000. The fact that the globalization of hip hop had reached all the way there really made an impression on me. Since then I've grown as an artist and have toured around the world, seeing firsthand how hip hop, as a US cultural export, has grown and become something new and different in these various places. Yet, the underlying theme is the same everywhere: hip hop continues to be the mouthpiece for people who exist outside of the mainstream to make their voices heard throughout society and around the world.

These songs and the ideas they contain were the result of studio sessions in Maryland, Belgium, Chicago, Paris, New York and many other places, late nights at SBe's house in Ghent, photo sessions, international phone calls and text messages, and long flights overseas to perform in Europe, Japan and Mexico.”

Beyond Borders will be released in June 2009 and will feature appearances from G.L.C., Oddisee, Kev Brown, Supastition, Wordsmith and Zap Mama and is entirely produced by SBe.

In 2001, Starr joined the Low Budget Crew, which also included D.C. locals Oddisee, Kev Brown, Critically Acclaimed, and Cy Young[1]. His connection with producer Oddisee landed him a deal with New York-based indie label Halftooth Records, which released his debut single, "If", featuring Talib Kweli and Asheru, in early 2004. "If" and its B-side, "Walk the Walk", were included on the Halftooth Records compilation You Don't Know the Half. The single led to a number of guest appearances including The Foreign Exchange's "The Answer", Wordsworth's "Head High", and Symbolyc One and Illmind's "Guilty Pleasures".

In June 2006, Starr released The Starr Report, a mixtape featuring most of his unreleased guest appearances on albums by the likes of Supastition, Cesar Comanche, The Foreign Exchange, and Kev Brown; followed by the single "Against the Grain". On August 29, Starr's debut album, Starr Status, was released, featuring production from Illmind, Khrysis, Kev Brown, Oddisee, DJ Roddy Rod and M-Phazes. Album guests included Kev Brown, Starr's Isaac Jones partner Sean Born, Supastition, Median, Talib Kweli and Asheru.

Starr Status garnered the rapper attention from magazines including Scratch, The Source, and JIVE, who called Starr "one of the best MCs in the game"

With number 1 charting singles and worldwide album sales, SoulStice and Haysoos are both accomplished artists in their own right. SoulStice has recently released the much-acclaimed album, "North by Northwest: Solid Ground" and has been featured in XXL, SCRATCH, URB, Elemental and many more. SoulStice hails from Chicago, but currently resides in Maryland where Haysoos calls home. Both taking prominent roles in the east coast hip hop scene, a few collaborations eventually led to the smash single "Rock Solid," featuring former Terror Squad member Cuban Link. The single was so successful that the duo began recording an entire album as Wade Waters, which is due out on Wandering Soul in the fall of 2006 with distribution through Raptivism/Ryko. With a sound that readily appeals to hip hop fans of all types and a rapidly growing domestic and international buzz, Wade Waters is the group to watch in 2006 and beyond.

The debut album, Dark Water, finds SoulStice and Haysoos collaborating with the legendary AZ on the LPs lead-single, "Speak On It" (produced by Analogic) and former Terror Squad member Cuban Link on the smash single "Rock Solid" (produced by Shuko). In addition, Wade Waters captures the signature sound of D.C./Maryland with the aid of up-and-coming producer Kev Brown, who contributes production on "That's My." Additional production is handled by Analogic, Speaks, Bring it Back, and SBE Audiologist. According to Neil Levine, head of Urban Marketing at EMI/Caroline, Dark Water is "a classic gem from Wade Waters bringing back real hip hop."

Won't say to much except if you ain't heard this album, then you're missing out on one seriously dope album. Every track is a banger, with lashings of that soulful boom bap we all love to hear. SoulStice & Haysoos are some intelligent MC's and really flow well together while spittin on a real positive vibe that everyone can relate to. This is an album you cannot afford to let pass you by, look at the producers!!! It don't better than that. Get familiar with the likes of Analogic, Shuko, SBE, Kev Brown because they are the future right here. If you haven't already, make sure you cop the SoulStice solo album he dropped in 2007 called Dead Letter Perfect, here's the link... Dead Letter Perfect... Really dope album which features production from another ill producer, Oddisee, as well as Analogic & SBE... don't sleep!

DJ RODDYROD, of the group Maspyke, and also the Low Budget Crew, has been producing music for the past 15 years, including recording hits with prominent hip hop artists, such as Q-Tip (Lyricist lounge II soundtrack) Words worth, EDO.G, Doug E Fresh, Planet Asia, and Kirby Dominant to name a few..

RODDY ROD’s production career began to bloom after scoring a remix to Doug E Fresh’s “Aiight” under the tutelage of Allen “Allstar” Gordon, producer of SWV and many R&B acts during the mid 90’s. The group later signed to Atlantic Records but saw no significant progress at the label. After parting ways with Atlantic they continued recording and touring the underground circuit. Finally in 2003, they released their debut album, The Blackout, to much critical acclaim. They followed this up in 2005 with the release of Static, on ABB Records.

Producer Roddy Rod is also a member of the Low Budget crew, which includes members Kev Brown, Ken Wood, Oddisee, Cy Young, Kaimbr, DJ Marshall Law, Critically, Eye-Q, Early Reed, P.Rosenburg, Grap Luva, Sean Born and Kenn Starr.

M-Phazes is the perfect example of a diamond in the rough. Born and raised in the Gold Coast of Australia and relatively isolated from Hip Hop culture, M-Phazes has carved a place for himself among Australia's Hip Hop elite and is putting Australia on the global Hip Hop map.

His style is best described as a combination of Neo-Soul & Boom Bap with a modern twist. Drawing inspiration from producers like J Dilla, Battlecat, DJ Premier & Pete Rock, M-Phazes has forged an original sound that is uniquely his own. As soon as the beat drops, you know it another M-Phazes classic.

With 9 years of production work under his belt and over 50 releases all over the world, M-Phazes has moved from strength to strength. Landing his first significant release on Supastition’s 'Chain Letters' in 2005, M-Phazes has been unstoppable since. His discography reads like a who’s who of underground US Hip Hop with his beats being blessed by artists like Pharoahe Monch, CL Smooth, Edo G, Royce Da 5’9, Elzhi, Freeway, Termanology, Sean Price, Othello, Wordsworth and many more.

Serious minded wisdom from J-Live, who has been one of hip hop's most impressive lyricists as well as one of the scene's most underappreciated overall talents since the late 90s -- doing things right with beats by Jazzy Jeff, Yalizee, Locsmif, Numark, DJ Spinna, Nicolay, and Chicago's own Cap D. J-Live is a vivid storyteller, and his mic is front & center on all tracks -- really allowing him to work with a bevy of producers while retaining a tight flow. Guest vocalists include Chali 2Na, Pos from De La Soul, Oddisee and Oddy Gato. Titles include "One To 31", "Be No Slave", "The Upgrade" feat Oddisee & Posdinous, "It Don't Stop", "The Understanding", "The Last Third", "Ole" feat Oddy Gato, "Ooweee", "The Zone" feat Chali 2na, "We Are!", "Simmer Down", "You Out There" and more

Chicago MC, Verbal Kent, returns with Fist Shaking, his third installment to his concept started in What Box and followed up in Move With The Walls. This concept consists of sticking to the script of dropping raw underground hip hop without the glamour and glitz. Hardcore lyrical wordplay overlaps polished and gritty beats with drums that bang the box. Cover artist Gary G keeps continuity in the artwork by giving visual sense of what the music is speaking. Top-notch production is handled by Marco Polo, Oddisee, Kaz 1, Panik, K-Kruz, and a rising talent to watch, Varan. Verbal Kent enlists his rapping peers Rusty Chains, Roadblok, Doomsday, Mood Swangz, Lance Ambu and Alltruisms for thight guest appearances.
